Traineeship opportunities
To apply for a traineeship with the ICRC, you must have obtained a first degree and be available for 12 months.
Qualifications needed:
We only accept a very limited number of trainees each year.
The selection process for the Legal Division takes place in June, and you must submit your application during May.
Remunerated 12 months traineeships are available at Geneva headquarters only.
We do not have any traineeship positions within our delegations abroad and do not offer summer traineeships.
The ICRC does not recruit volunteers. If you want to volunteer to work for the Red Cross/Red Crescent, please contact your National Red Cross/Red Crescent Society.
- A higher university degree or diploma equivalent to a master's degree in a relevant field (law, international relations, history, education, etc.).
- An excellent command of both French and English (fluency in one and a very good working knowledge of the other).
- Age between 25 and 35.
- A strong interest in humanitarian action and the ICRC.
- The ability to think strategically, to express ideas clearly - both orally and in writing - and to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience with an international organization, NGO or a Red Cross or Red Crescent society would be a definite asset.
- Candidates with knowledge of additional languages such as Russian, Arabic and Spanish are particularly encouraged to apply.
