It works in close collaboration with the Burundi Red Cross and can rely on its support, particularly in emergencies. 26-3-2009 Burundi: the ICRC’s activities in 2008The ICRC’s support for the most vulnerable Burundians continued in 2008 in the face of endemic poverty and resumed armed hostilities which led to further displacement of the population. In particular access to drinking water has improved for more than 220,000 people and more than 150 children, who had been separated from their families by the violence in recent years, were reunited with them.
