Empty chairs in Libya

Picture an empty chair in the middle of a room, in the house of a missing person's family. Picture a child standing in front of the chair, imagining their missing parent, brother or other relative is sitting on that chair. And picture the child in conversation with somone who has disappeared from their life. A "missing person."

How does a child cope with the disappearance of their father, their brother? Ten Libyan children aged between 7 and 17 helped us make an emotional seven-minute documentary, expressing their pain in their own words. The documentary was premiered at an ICRC exhibition in Libya marking the 2013 International Day of the Disappeared (30 August).
