Kosovo: How ICRC is responding to COVID-19 pandemic

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in Kosovo, the ICRC mission in Kosovo had to change the course of its actions. This included aiding families of missing persons and the most affected communities.

As soon as the first cases of COVID-19 infection were reported in Kosovo, the priority was to boost the capacities of the Red Cross structures to cope with the situation and be able to reach out to the most in need, including provision of personal protective equipment. Besides that, we continued providing direct support to forensic, detention and migration authorities as well as religious communities.

We have also strived to maintain our regular contacts and held meetings with the highest Kosovo government and health institutions to provide them with advice and share knowledge of the best ways to cope with the pandemic.
