Lebanon: Assisting Palestinian refugees from Syria

Winters are harsh in Lebanon, especially for those who were forced to flee their homes and live as refugees in the country. With basic shelter and rudimentary facilities, winter takes a toll on them. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was planning to assist the Palestinian Refugees from Syria (PRS) community, but was unable to secure the necessary funding. Firm in their good intent, they requested other organizations, including the ICRC, to step in. This is a narrative of the people most affected - their challenges, their priorities and their life.

The proposed winterization package for about 10,000 people consists of an amount of 100 USD dollars per month in cash assistance for fuel, plus a flat amount of 50 USD dollars to replace winterization items distributed last winter.
