Saving lives through first aid

During an incident, police and military officers are often the first to arrive at the scene.

Equipping the first responders with first aid skills would enable them to provide immediate help to the injured.

In 2017, for the first time, the ICRC regional delegation in Indonesia and Timor Leste, together with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and Indonesian police, organised a first aid training for police and military officers. The training equipped the participants with basic first aid knowledge skills to prevent injuries from worsening until professional medical assistance arrives.

The ICRC regional delegation in Indonesia and Timor-Leste has been working with the police for the last 18 years especially on the dissemination of international rules and standard for policing.

In 2017, so far, 60 police and 10 military officers have already received training.
