This online event marks the launch of the International Review of the Red Cross (IRRC)'s newest edition, "Organized Crime", which features 16 articles that address a series of legal and policy questions regarding organized crime in armed conflict and other situations of violence. Organized crime is multifaceted and brings with it diverse humanitarian costs, which in turn raise questions regarding the applicable legal frameworks and appropriate policy solutions. The event will feature remarks from ICRC Vice President Gilles Carbonnier and ICRC Director of Operations for the Americas Sophie Orr. IRRC Editor-in-Chief Bruno Demeyere will then moderate a panel featuring three authors whose work appears in the edition, as well as ICRC Head of Regional Delegation for Mexico and Central America Olivier Dubois.
