About the event

The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), are pleased to confirm that the International Conference on "Preparing Modern Armed Forces for Peacekeeping Operations in the 21st century" will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia from 25 till 27 June 2019.

The conference will bring together representatives from States and Organizations member of the ASEAN Regional Forum and other countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Cambodia, China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, United States, Vietnam and the European Union.

The conference will focus on the implementation of International Humanitarian Law in the framework of peace operations, with a special focus on issues that are developing, such as women in peacekeeping, the protection of civilians & medical services in times of conflict.
