Commentary on the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, Volume III

The four volumes of the Commentary were published between 1952 and 1959. This imposing work is intended for specialists and specialized institutions. It will be of service to legal scholars and to all those who in the course of their work - be it in government circles, armed forces or institutions within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement - deal with questions regarding the implementation and application of international humanitarian law.   Volume III: "Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War: Commentary".   Written mainly by Jean de Preux, a jurist, with the participation of F. Siordet, C. Pilloud, R.-J. Wilhelm, O. Uhler, J-P. Schoenholzer and Henri Coursier. This study on the protection and treatment of prisoners of war is based essentially on practical experience during the First and Second World Wars.
