Red Cross, Red Crescent magazine: Humanity under fire

Red Cross Red Crescent magazine, Issue 2-2016, focuses on “Humanity under fire” — the ongoing disrespect for international humanitarian law (IHL) we see in conflicts around the world: hospitals attacked, health and first-aid workers killed, heavily populated urban areas bombarded. The story also looks at how to ensure greater respect for the rules of war and highlights cases in which IHL ensured that aid workers reached people with life-saving assistance. Other stories include: the return of ‘super El Niño’, fighting Zika, securing long-term funding for humanitarian aid, supporting local humanitarian organizations, a celebration of first responders, and combatting non-communicable diseases by promoting healthy lifestyles.
