Our work in Algeria

We visit people held in prisons and police and gendarmerie stations to assess their treatment and living conditions. If necessary, we engage in confidential dialogue with the relevant authorities and urge them to  take measures to ensure the dignity of the detainees in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

We work with the Algerian authorities to promote international humanitarian law and discuss the main diplomatic and humanitarian issues of the moment.

Our cooperation with the Algerian Red Crescent is geared toward strengthening its capacities in various areas, including first aid, disaster management and restoring family links.
