Central America: Safeguarding migrants

Hundreds of thousands of Central Americans risk kidnap, robbery, rape and misfortune every year to seek a better life up north. Some reach their goal, others fall off trains and lose their limbs. Some are murdered, some die of thirst and illness. Patricia Danzi, Head of Operations for the Americas, was in London to explain how the ICRC works with local Red Cross societies to provide first aid, help to migrants on protecting themselves and measures to stop people disappearing.
