The earthquake that rocked Ecuador on 16 April caused great uncertainty and anguish among the population. Even though telephone services were re-established within a few hours, many people had no news from their loved ones. The Ecuadorian and Colombian Red Cross received search requests and volunteers immediately began following up each and every request.
