Sexual violence in DRC : Pascaline's story

Pascaline's life was forever changed after being raped by armed men in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. She went on to face the rejection of her husband and community.

Victims of sexual violence are commonly stigmatized in many cultures, suffering not only the trauma of rape, but of losing their families and livelihoods. With the support of a local counsellor, Pascaline and her husband are working to build a future together. However, rejection from their community has made recovery an uphill battle.
