Sudan: Providing relief to people affected by conflict
The ICRC and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) continued to provide relief to people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence in 2017.
We have increased our field assistance operations following the Sudanese authorities' invitation in 2017. The ICRC and the SRCS conducted needs assessments and launched projects. We continue to work to provide humanitarian assistance and restore dignity for returnees, displaced people and others affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.
Highlights of our work in Sudan in 2017:
Restored family links for 5,600 families through phone calls | |
Repaired 37 hand pumps ensuring safe drinking water for 10,000 internally displaced persons | |
Provided cash or cash vouchers to 1,260 internally displaced families | |
Provided physical rehabilitation services to 5,800 people living with disabilities | |
Assisted in the repatriation of 125 detained people |
