About the event

This striking exhibition showcases the devastating humanitarian toll exacted by landmines, unexploded cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) – weapons that remain a malign presence across the world and continue to cause serious harm, long after conflicts have ended.

More than 50,000 people have lost their lives or limbs to ERW in the past decade alone, with civilians – and particularly children – disproportionately affected. Featuring moving and personal portraits from six mine-affected countries, the exhibition captures the anguish and the strength of those who have survived mine explosions, and illustrates the dedicated work of the individuals who risk their lives to clear ERW and keep communities safe.

From Seeds of Destruction to Fields of Recovery will be on display at the Hedley Bull Centre at Australian National University, from 19 August -28 September 2016. The exhibition is free and open to the public between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
