About the event

The ICRC Colombo delegation together with the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute of Sri Lanka (BIDTI) are co-organizing a series of webinars on Contemporary challenges to International Humanitarian Law.

The first of the webinar series will discuss the important role played by State diplomats in domestic settings and multilateral fora, to overcome the challenges posed by contemporary armed conflicts to the application of IHL as presented in the latest "Challenges Report" prepared by the ICRC in December 2019. The panelists will speak from their wealth of knowledge and their own experiences in this regard, and participants will be encouraged to contribute to the discussion so as to gather diverse perspectives and create a vibrant and open discussion on this topic.

The event is free and open to the public and ICRC staff.
