Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies

At the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), we believe in the power of partnerships with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Our collaboration is built on shared principles and values and a common commitment to preserving humanity. Together, we develop joint strategies, exchange expertise and pool resources to effectively respond to emergencies and enhance our collective impact on communities in need around the world.

Our collaborative approach

We believe in the power of partnerships with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and their International Federation. Our collaboration allows us to amplify our reach, bringing aid to those who need it most in the hardest-to-reach places in the world. By leveraging the resources of our Red Cross and Red Crescent partners, we are able to strengthen our humanitarian action, ensuring a coordinated response to protect, assist and bring hope to vulnerable populations in need.

Our funding

National Societies together support about 3% of the ICRC's operations.

National Societies contribute to ICRC operations in several ways: for instance, by supporting our programmes, providing staff or contributing to specific activities in a country. Together, we reach communities in need, provide life-saving assistance and support recovery and development efforts.
