Thailand

Over the past five decades, the ICRC has worked in Thailand to deliver humanitarian assistance both locally and in neighbouring countries, while also promoting humanitarian principles and international laws and standards applicable locally.

Our work in Thailand

The ICRC has been active in Thailand since 1975, when it opened an office in Bangkok to help those severely affected by the Indo-China War. That office served as a regional delegation from 1993 to 2000, covering Laos, Viet Nam and Cambodia, in response to local needs and in partnership with the National Societies. We also promote respect for international humanitarian law and other international laws and standards applicable locally. Today, the ICRC in Thailand has evolved into a regional hub working across the Asia-Pacific to share our expertise in both preventing humanitarian crises and in responding to the needs of those affected by conflict and violence.
