Central African Republic

The ICRC has worked in the Central African Republic (CAR) since 1983 and has been present there continuously since 2007. We run our activities from our delegation in Bangui and offices in Kaga-Bandoro, Bambari, Bouar and Ndélé.

Our work in Central African Republic

We raise awareness among all weapon bearers of the need to respect the rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

We help communities get better access to drinking water and health care. Depending on people’s level of vulnerability and needs, we provide them with food, essential household items, seed and building materials to repair homes that have been destroyed or damaged as a result of armed violence.

Our work with the Central African Red Cross

Most of our activities to assist people in need and restore family links are carried out together with the Central African Red Cross. We also support the National Society in strengthening its structure and operational capacities.
