The Closing Analyst is in charge of providing reliable, accurate, and timely accounting data through implementation of various accounting tasks and services. S/he adheres to the existing financial rules set by the FAD division to help maintain ICRC’s trustworthiness and business continuity.

 

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internally, interacts within the Finance and Administration Division, with Field Delegations and other "clients" from within the organization
  • Externally, interacts with stakeholder

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs monthly closing and year-end closing activities, including accounting entries quality checks, account reconciliation, preparation of adjustments, and posting of journals of the assigned delegation/region
  • Communicates advance accounting queries, end-of-service, year-end accruals, untaken leave queries and other queries to the field delegations
  • Performs integrity checks of account balances made on a regular basis and takes corrective measures
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions in accordance with financial procedures
  • Helps ensure that all accounting transactions are posted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Keeps files up to date and guarantees proper filing of relevant supporting documents for future reference, including audits
  • Respond to technical/non-standard inquiries when necessary
  • Identifies, reports anomalies or technical issues to FAD_APPLIC
  • Acts as superuser to field computer applications when required

 

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 
  • Have at least two (2) years working experience in general accounting and/or as Inventory Accountant  
  • Good understanding of financial and analytical accounting 
  • Experience with JD Edwards / Peoplesoft is an asset 
  • Experience with Process Design and Analysis 
  • Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) is an asset 
  • Technically proficient in using Microsoft Office softwares – e.g. Excel, Word 
  • Good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of the French language is a plus 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills 
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
