Azerbaijan: ICRC organizes children’s visit to UEFA Europa League final
Fifteen children from communities in Azerbaijan affected by armed conflict had the once in a lifetime opportunity to play a football match on a UEFA pitch and watch the final match of the UEFA Europa League live on 29 May 2019.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organized the children's four-day trip to Baku, Azerbaijan, where it was participating in the match's fan festival. There, the ICRC highlighted the humanitarian consequences of armed conflicts, particularly the plight of families whose loved ones have gone missing.
Football fans were able to learn about the work of the ICRC in support of people affected by armed conflict and situations of violence worldwide through participation in various games as well as a virtual reality experience.
