Physical rehabilitation in Cambodia: 210,000 services in 26 years

The ICRC's Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP) recently achieved two major milestones on the road to serving the people of Cambodia. Not only did the programme complete 26 years of its presence in the country, but also provided the 210,000th free service to people with disability.

By giving both technical and material support to the Regional Physical Rehabilitation Centres in Battambang and Kampong Speu province, we have been able to deliver over 210,000 PRP services. "Over these 26 years, we have fitted artificial limbs and donated mobility devices and wheelchairs to over 100,000 persons with disabilities who have been directly and indirectly affected by conflict," said Philip Morgan, the ICRC's physical rehabilitation programme manager in Cambodia.

The ICRC has been working in Cambodia since 1992, providing assistance to those affected by post-conflict issues.
