Seoul: International organizations join hands, organize events marking World Humanitarian Day 2020

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and 13 humanitarian organizations, including UNICEF, Medecins Sans Frontieres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, World Food Programme, World Vision and Asian Dignity Initiative (ADI) jointly organized an online photo exhibition and various events in collaboration with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to mark World Humanitarian Day, i.e. 19 August.

The exhibition, which will continue till 15 October, illustrates the collective efforts of humanitarian organizations in their protection and assistance activities for people affected by armed conflict and natural disasters. The photographs also offer a glimpse into each organization's response to COVID-19 in different contexts.

Jihae Park, head of communication of the ICRC mission in Seoul, participated in a panel discussion addressing various humanitarian issues. She spoke of the organization's global operations and activities and its specific response to COVID-19 as well as the challenges involved. Over 2,300 viewers watched the talk show that was live-streamed on YouTube and over 1,02,000 people have visited the online exhibition at Daum Online Gallery so far.
