Lake Chad

Situated in north-west Africa, the Lake Chad region – Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad – has been ripped apart by armed conflict.  Civilians have been targeted and killed. More than 11 million people need assistance to survive in this region, and 5.3 million have been forced to flee because of the violence. Thousands of families face malnutrition every day. The food crisis on the continent is compounded by the combined effects of climate change and conflict.
